HMS graduates reunite for first alumni reunion

Graduates of the School of Human Movement Studies, Class of 1986, 87 and 88 celebrated the 20 th anniversary of their graduation from UQ on 8 December with a cocktail party sponsored by the School of Human Movement Studies alumni network.

The event, was hosted by Professor Doune Macdonald, Head of School, was the first ever HMS reunion organised by the School and the alumni network.

Former Head of Department, Professor Ian Jobbling and 1988 HMS graduate and CEO of ProScribe, Associate Professor Karen Woolley, were also part of the festivities addressing the graduated about their success since leaving the School.

Reunion organiser and 1987 graduate Marita Lynagh said it was a great night with many people asking when the next will be.

"It was great to hear about people's life stories and their wonderful achievements” Ms Lynagh said.

"Current students may benefit hearing about the career paths that people have followed” Marita said.

Professor Doune Macdonald encouraged those at the reunion to remain in contact with the School.

"The School is keen to reconnect with its graduates” Professor Macdonald said.

"We are very interested in hearing from all HMS graduates to see where their degrees have taken them, and for suggestions and comments for ways in which we can further advance the School and develop links between industry, professional associations and the graduates themselves” Doune said.

The School would like to host more alumni reunions in 2008. For more information, please contact the School of Human Movement Studies Alumni network at alumni@hms.uq.edu.au or phone the School Manager, Chris Goninon on 3365 6113.
